# Publish a website from Claude Code with Sitehold

> **Short answer:** run `claude mcp add --transport http sitehold https://accounts.sitehold.app/mcp`, sign in with `/mcp`, then ask Claude Code to deploy your build output to Sitehold. It checks the preview and publishes.

## 1. Add the server

```
claude mcp add --transport http sitehold https://accounts.sitehold.app/mcp
```

Start Claude Code, type `/mcp`, choose **sitehold** and sign in to Sitehold in the browser window that opens.

## 2. Build, then deploy

Sitehold hosts the static output of your build, not your source. Ask:

```
Build the site and deploy the output folder to Sitehold as a new site called "docs". Send me the preview link.
```

Claude Code can send files directly, or pack the output folder into one `.tar.gz` archive and upload it with `curl`, which suits bigger sites. One version holds up to 100 files and 5 MB (8 MB compressed as an archive).

## 3. Publish

The first time, connect your domain before publishing: [Connect your domain](/guides/connect-a-domain). Then ask Claude Code to publish, and the site is live. To sign off on each publish yourself, see [Approve publishes yourself](/guides/approval).

## Tips

- Paths are served as uploaded: `/pricing` serves `pricing.html` or `pricing/index.html`, and a root `404.html` becomes your not-found page.
- Keep your source in Git. Sitehold keeps the live version and your latest drafts, not a history and not your repository.
- A site can live under a path of a domain, such as `example.com/docs`. Use relative URLs in that case.
